Below are some of the common questions that we are asked. If your question is not here, or if you would like more information, please don't hestitate to contact us.

Do you do straightforward websites?

Absolutely! If you just need a slick, professional "brochure" website, then we will be pleased to help. Very often, what starts a simple website evolves over time to become more sophisticated to meet the growing needs and demands of consumers. The benefit of MindVision is that we can start simple and add features later as they are needed.

How much of my time will I need to allocate during development?

Surprisingly little! At MindVision we know that the typical small business person has to focus on daily operations and has little time to devote to extra projects. MindVision will manage your entire project from start to finish. You can choose to be heavily involved or simply to receive progress reports, answer questions as they arise and comment on work in progress when requested. Most clients prefer to have minimal involvement until it is time to test the finished product, but the choice is yours.

How much will it cost?

As you can guess, that is a lot like asking "how long is a piece of string?".  MindVision accepts projects for as little one or two thousand dollars right up to half a million or more.

Once we have an initial discussion and have an overview of your requirements, we will give you ballpark indication. If your are comfortable with that indication, we will put some effort into refining proper estimate. To prepare an estimate requires a functional specification of the end product. If you don't yet have one we will help you to prepare a project scope and functional specification (at an agreed cost) and then prepare a proper estimate based on this document.

Can I see some of your work?

Certainly! We will be happy to select appropriate past projects for you to view. Most often, we need to present examples personally as they are from secure (password protected) systems, and we must preserve the commerical confidentiality of our clients.

How long will my project take?

Once we know the scope and size of your project we will be able to give your a very good indication of the time your project will take.  Depending on the size of your project, it will take between two and six weeks for us to get it onto our production schedule.

Can you do rush jobs?

MindVision can do rush jobs and occasionally accepts them. However, before we do, we need to be confident that you can keep up with us. Rush jobs mean that you have to be able to turn around requests for information, clarification or review within 24 hours. If you fail, a penalty may be incurred. Frankly, with the unpredictable pressures of their daily operations, very few clients are capable of supporting a rush job. MindVision's experience has taught the optimum work rate for most projects.

How is development paid for?

Every week (or two weeks for larger projects), MindVision will issue a detailed invoice listing all work done during the period. This invoice is to be settled within seven days. Late payment will cause your project to slow or cease. This approach makes it fully transparent what MindVision has been doing for you. A detailed activity report clearly shows progress against budget, simplifying monitoring and management.

Will I need new hardware at the office?

Most MindVision software is developed for use in a web browser. This means that your existing computers running a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox are probably perfectly adequate for running what we develop for you.

What about Hosting?

MindVision has its own data centre and can host your application for you. This is usually the preferred and most economical option, although you can certainly choose to host elsewhere. Either way, we will discuss your business continuity risk and plan with you to ensure that correct hosting solution.
